10 SIMPLE TIPS FOR STRESS RELIEF
By Carol Scott, MD, MSEd, FACEP
1. Stress is inevitable. The goal is NOT to get rid of stress or have a stress-free existence. A reasonable goal for management of stress is to transform potentially harmful reactions to demands and challenges in your life into healthy responses. Stress doesn’t make you sick, it makes you more likely to get diseases that make you sick. Between 70 and 80 percent of visits to primary care doctors are due to stress-related disorders. Doctors are good at telling you that your symptoms (headache, chest pain, stomach disorders) are due to a certain disease. But wait a minute—the real question you should ask your doctor is why you have that disease. For so many disorders, the answer is simply stress. [read more]

Women and Money: TD AMERITRADE Survey Finds Women Anticipate Getting by with Less in Retirement
Men surveyed strive for more money, have greater confidence about retirement
Women are content retiring with less money saved for retirement than men, according to a recent survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation on behalf of TD AMERITRADE.(1)
The survey, which included responses from employed men and women, found 73 percent of women are comfortable accumulating less than $1 million in savings before retirement, compared to 63 percent of men. The survey also found only 22 percent of women would like to accumulate $1 million or more in savings before retirement, compared to 32 percent of men. Additionally, twice as many men (12%) as women (5%) will strive to accumulate at least $5 million in savings before retiring. [read more]
Title Sponsor ReCaps Successes at 2009 Texas Conference for Women
Being one in a million may suffice for some, but being one in more than 5,000 who attended the tenth annual Texas Conference for Women in Houston was revitalizing. And for the ten percent of participants who participated on behalf of BP, the presenting event sponsor for the sixth consecutive year, this conference was more than refreshing.
BP went the extra mile to demonstrate the Response-Ability that can accompany the position of Title Sponsor. More than 500 women and a few men from BP across America registered as participants in the conference. BP volunteers assisted with registration, stuffed packets, worked at the exhibit booth, etc. Katrina Landis, CEO of BP's Alternative Energy division, flew in from London specifically to participate as one of the panelists, bring welcoming remarks to conference attendees and network with her fellow colleagues.

Attendee Feedback
“I was amazed by the huge, energy-filled atmosphere and informative sessions, but the empowerment—the Girl Power!—throughout the building was more powerful than anything that I could have ever imagined! I am excited, and equally confident, as I begin a new chapter in my life, as I am now armed with tools and enthusiasm (that had begun to diminish) as I seek to achieve my personal and career goals. The idea of being surrounded by so many powerful, beautiful women who share the same joys, pains and goals was exhilarating. I will always remember and value my experience at the Texas Conference for Women.”
