Thank You for a Great Conference!

The power of women is truly amazing. When we come together, we can educate, enlighten, and inspire one another. That connection—and your participation—made the 2007 Texas Conference for Women a shining success.

Whether you came to connect, to learn, to share, or to network, we hope you left the Conference with new ideas and new opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

We'll be adding exciting new features to the Web site in the months ahead, and we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, meet our 2007 scholarship recipients or find a list of books by your favorite conference speakers.

As always, we invite and encourage your feedback, and we hope that you'll join us for the 2008 Conference in Houston!

Meet Our Scholarship Recipients

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the Texas Conference for Women was thrilled to award six $5,000 scholarships in the areas of the arts, business, education, math and science, nursing, and public service. We also gave attendees the opportunity to donate to the scholarship program, and thanks to their response we were able to award an additional $500 honorable mention financial stipend in each category.

How To Live Richly Ever After...
By Sharon Epperson. It's a conversation that most couples put off as long as they can. Most of them never get up the nerve to have it. Each person may have an imaginary version of the discussion—at many different times, in many different versions—in their head over the course of the years and the relationship. But it's devilishly difficult to find the right time, if there ever is a right time, to have the talk. It's the love handles talk. Read More >

Own Your Happiness
By Kathleen Hall, Ph.D. Ask people how they are doing these days, and the first word you will hear is "busy." Probe deeper, and soon you may see frustration as they say, "exhausted." We do more, go more and buy more. Our gas tanks are full, our bank accounts are full, and our closets are full, but we are running on empty. Surveys say we don't get enough sleep, we eat more meals on the run than at home, we take too many pills, and, worst of all, we don't spend enough time with our children and the people we love. Clearly, our lives are out of balance. It is time to stop being the victim of our lives and make choices that will create an intentional life of happiness. Read More >

Going the Wrong Way
By Rosalyn Taylor O'Neale. A recent article in USA Today ("Roommate Concerns Fed By Facebook") is the kind of article that necessitates a response. It describes parents requesting roommate selection changes for their dormitory-bound offspring before they set foot on the campus. Read More >

What People Are Saying

"From start to finish, the experience was amazing: women of all backgrounds and ages assembled for one day, under one roof to learn, teach, meet, and greet. In a time when a certain cynicism has us all in a bear hug bigger than Texas, here was a place in America thumping with the optimism, energy, and creative spirit that brought our country into being."

Rabbi Jennifer Krause, conference panelist, New York City

"I have brought my school's seniors to the conference for two years. Each year our group has grown, and more and more young women are excited about the event. They feel they learn about 'real life' and are being given the tools to ensure their success by attending and learning the importance of being a part of a women's network. Thank you for the opportunities that you provide."

Donna Morrison, Chavez High School, Houston, Texas
