Conference Facts

  • Now in its ninth year, the Texas Conference for Women is a non-profit, non-partisan, one-day event for Texas women to connect, learn practical and professional strategies from nationally recognized experts, and network with peers.
  • Conference organizers anticipate another capacity crowd of more than 7,500.
  • Since its inception in 2000, the Texas Conference for Women has grown dramatically, drawing more participants each year and hosting nationally recognized and highly regarded speakers.
  • Past keynoters have included:
    • Dr. Maya Angelou, celebrated poet, author, educator and historian
    • Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, prolific writer and respected family health advocate
    • Maria Hinojosa, Emmy®-nominated journalist and celebrated author

FOR YOUNG WOMEN, TOO

  • The Young Women's Track, providing seminars designed especially for junior and senior high school girls, strives to provide teenage girls confidence, direction, and encouragement to pursue the profession of their dreams.
  • The 2008 Conference will be the sixth year of the Texas Conference for Women Scholarship program, which awards six $5,000 scholarships to qualifying women enrolled or accepted to institutions of higher education in Texas and studying in the fields of, the arts, business, education, math and science, public service, and nursing.
  • Thanks to the generosity of conference sponsors, the Texas Conference for Women has awarded more than $150,000 in financial scholarships, bringing the recipients one step closer to achieving their academic and professional goals.
