Nastaran Kherad
Nastaran Kherad was born in Abadan, Iran, near the Persian Gulf. At age 2, after her father’s sudden death, Kherad moved to Shiraz to live with her maternal grandmother, Bibi. In her first book, the memoir "In the House of My Bibi," she shares a powerful story of a girlhood spent during the upheaval of the Iranian Revolution. From early childhood, Kherad chronicles vivid recollections of her imprisonment at age 18 on fabricated political charges. After fleeing Iran, Kherad graduated from California State University, Long Beach. Jayne Rager Garcia de Valseca
Jayne Rager Garcia de Valseca worked as an actress in film and television and went on to be one of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences youngest members to ever vote on the Emmy Awards. She and her husband also founded a Waldorf School in San Miguel de Allende, Gto., Mexico, a non-profit organization. It was in Mexico where she endured the kidnapping of her husband who was returned after almost eight months. Garcia Valseca is currently being treated for cancer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia. At the request of the hospital pastor, she told her story, and other patients found strength and solace in her incredible journey. In addition to using personal tragedies to speak about the power of forgiveness and resilience, the Garcia Valsecas are also well-positioned to speak about the geo-political implications of the Mexican drug trade, cartels and terrorists on border safety and U.S.-Mexico relations.
Evelyn Resh
Evelyn Resh, MPH, CNM, is the director of Sexual Health Services at Canyon Ranch. She is an advanced practice nurse and certified nurse-midwife who continues in clinical practice. Resh has a clinical background in OB/GYN and integrative and preventive medicine. Her special interests include sexual health and aging, increasing awareness and integration of sensual pleasures and helping women and men maintain life-long interest in sexual intimacy. She is a sought-after speaker, has presented at Speaking of Women's Health conferences and has appeared frequently on radio programs such as the Joan Hamburg Show on WOR-Radio and on internet radio.
