CHINA WIDENER serves as Deloitte’s national strategy and operations leader for public sector and national strategy and operations diversity and inclusion leader. As a public sector consulting practitioner, she advises state and local governments and higher education clients on business and operating transformation to achieve breakthrough performance. She has extensive experience in the policy, program and operations of large government agencies and she brings clients an understanding of the eco-systems for government and higher education. In her role as diversity and inclusion leader she has led the development of programming designed to acquire, retain and develop diverse practitioners. Programs inaugurated during her tenure include Women in Strategy and Operations Day of Reflection, and Strategy &Operations yearlong Sponsorship Pairings Initiative. Prior to joining Deloitte, Widener was a servant leader at both the state and local levels with more than 15 years of experience. Since joining Deloitte, Widener has co-authored an article published in the CIO Update, titled “SOA It’s Not Just for Technology Anymore.” She also developed a Public Sector Service Delivery Model Assessment Methodology. Widener earned a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University, a J.D. from the University of Maryland and attended Harvard University’s State and Local Senior Executives Program.
