2018 Session | Personal Brand Overhaul: Redefine the Way You’re Perceived at Work

Everyone has a certain reputation (or “brand”) that they’re known for in the workplace, but for most people, that brand has been created by default, rather than by intentional design. The people you work with have built up their own perceptions, opinions, and judgments about who you are, what you’re good at—and possibly even what you’re not good at. They have “branded” you in their own minds. Have you allowed others to define your reputation? If so, you have the ability to re-brand yourself. This panel of branding experts will show you how to re-assess your brand –in person, online and when sending emails –  and adjust your communication to that you can attract high-profile projects and solidify your reputation as a leader. 5 Tips to Feel More Comfortable at Networking Events

This is one thing Alice Rutkowski, an executive communication and presence coach who has worked with more than 8,000 executives over the past 20-some years, wishes everyone knew:

Body language reflects what you believe about yourself and others.

“Consciously and unconsciously, we are reading others and they are reading us all the time,” says Rutkowski, vice president of executive development at Sagin. “For example, whether you’re sitting or standing, crossing your legs can convey nervousness. It puts your body out of alignment, and being unbalanced isn’t conducive to feeling confident—and people can see that.” Read More

This Entrepreneur Was Sued for Hosting Events for Women

Claire Wasserman, founder of Ladies Get Paid, a career development platform, is committed to closing the wage and leadership gap. If anyone is about equity and inclusion, it is Claire.

So imagine her disbelief when she was informed last October that she was being sued for sex discrimination.

Bethenny Frankel’s Truths

Many of us think of Bethenny Frankel as the fast-talking, forthright reality TV star with brains and balls to spare. After all, not only did she seize the marketing opportunities of her fame and time on TV, selling books and Skinnybrand cocktails, she then sold the Skinnygirl Margarita brand for a reported $120 million—and kept the licensing rights to the Skinnygirl brand, which she has built into an empire.

Yet in the past several months, an additional aspect of Frankel has come to national light: her extraordinary humanitarianism. Last September, on her own dime, she helicoptered to a rural town in Mexico to raise awareness of the earthquake’s devastation there. Then she went to post-Harvey Houston and delivered $300,000 worth of relief supplies, which had been raised by her organization B Strong, an initiative through Dress for Success. And then she became a one-woman rescue mission to Puerto Rico, first chartering planes to deliver relief supplies and bring back elderly and ailing citizens and then arranging for a cargo ship that can carry 15 million pounds of generators, food and other necessities.
