Deborah Carter

Deborah Carter possesses a personal and professional drive to help others succeed and drive transformational change in organizations.  In the last 6 years, she has helped Rackspace University (RU) accomplish its wide-ranging objectives and successfully address organizational needs. Deborah has helped thousands of Rackers (Rackspace employees) by providing support to both technical and non-technical training. She has initiated and established partnerships between Rackspace and the Texas Workforce Commission, Project Quest and Alamo Community Colleges.  In March 2013, Carter and her team launched the Rackspace Open Cloud Academy, an initiative to provide IT training to members of the San Antonio community while filling talent-gaps that exist in the hosting industry. Carter was a key player in securing over $8 million worth of grant-funding, which has been used to train thousands of Rackers and will be used to train hundreds of future Rackers through Open Cloud Acadmey. Her efforts have been formally recognized with Rackspace HR’s Infinity & Beyond award, Rackspace Foundations’ Rack’em award, Texas Workforce Commision’s Alamo Region’s Employer of the Year for 2012 and Bersin’s What Works award.  Lately, you may have seen Deborah quoted in The Wall Street Journal, spreading the word about the Open Cloud Academy.
