Susie Gray


SUSIE GRAY is the current publisher for the Austin American-Statesman, a role she assumed in December 2012. Prior to this appointment, she was executive VP and general manager for USA TODAY, where she was responsible for editorial and business functions and strategic direction for Gannett’s flagship brand.  Additionally, Gray held senior executive positions at the Detroit Media Partnership, including CEO, where she led the strategic transition of Detroit’s two metro dailies.  She began her media career in 1984 when she joined the Arkansas Gazette as VP and director of marketing. Gray currently serves on the international board of directors for the International News Media Association (INMA), and as a business leader for Cox Media Group, she serves on the company’s diversity and inclusion advisory council.  In Austin, Gray serves as chair of the governing board of Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas chapter and volunteers as a wish granter.  Additionally, she serves on the board of directors for Downtown Austin Alliance, is a member of the special events and partnerships committee for the Greater Austin Chamber and previously served as a member of the executive leadership team for Austin Heart Walk. She is also on the selection committee for the Association of Fundraising Professionals annual Philanthropy Day Awards. She was named Texas Business Woman of the Year by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas for 2014. @statesman
