2015 Conference Day Suggestions: Best Session Picks for Different Job Paths
Help me plan my day! It’s a request we get more and more as we add new offerings to the Conference every year. “Of course, you can’t go wrong with any mix of sessions, but we create the programming for people at different stages of their career,” says Director Laurie Dalton White. Here, our recommendations for a few different career tracks.
CAREER ROOKIES:
SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend workshop “Working Simply: Embracing the Power of Your Personal Productivity Style” in Meeting Room 18.
11 am – 11:30 am: Have your resume reviewed by HR and career service experts in the Career Pavilion.
SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “The Skills You Need to Build Your Career” in Meeting Room 19.
12:30 pm – 1 pm: Ask a career coach your burning questions in the Career Pavilion.
1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.
2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Halls, including the Community Connection Pavilion.
SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert-exchange session “Build Your Personal Brand” in Meeting Room 16.
4 pm – 5 pm: Return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach or have your resume reviewed; at 4:25 pm, attend workshop “Internal Networking to Succeed at Your Current Job” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.
TRANSITION MAKERS:
SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend workshop “What’s Next? Strategies for Maximizing the Second Half of Life” in Ballroom D.
11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach in the Career Pavilion.
SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Reviving Your Career: Actionable Steps to Achieve a Professional Renaissance” in Ballroom E.
12:30 pm – 1 pm: Get a LinkedIn profile makeover and meet local leaders in the Cisco Networking Lounge.
1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.
2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Halls, including the Health & Wellness Pavilion.
SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert-exchange session “Spiraling Upward: The 5 Co-Creative Powers for Women on the Rise” in Meeting Room 17.
4 pm – 5 pm: Join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “Transitioning to a Small Business Owner”—inside the Small Business Pavilion and return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach.
LIFE-BALANCE SEEKERS:
SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend session “Unfinished Business: Women, Men, Work, Family” in Meeting Room 19.
11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach in the Career Pavilion.
SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend session “Working Simply: Embracing the Power of your Personal Productivity Style” in Meeting Room 18.
12:30 pm – 1 pm: Meet local leaders and ask them how they balance work and life in the Cisco Networking Lounge.
1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.
2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Halls, including the Health & Wellness Pavilion.
SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert-exchange session “Women and Wealth: Establishing a Game Plan That Aligns with What You Value Most” in Meeting Room 19.
4 pm – 5 pm: Return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach and listen to the live music while you wait.
ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS:
Before 10 am: Sign up for a time to pitch your product to Good Morning America’s Tory Johnson in the Vistaprint-branded area in the Small Business Marketplace.
SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “The Courage to Innovate: Unlocking the Skills for Fresh Thinking” in Ballroom F/G.
11 am – 11:30 am: Take advantage of the free services offered by BIGAustin, including one-on-one counseling on business plan development; financial analysis and forecasting; business structures and partnerships; marketing; operations; loan application packaging and access to capital, in the Small Business Marketplace.
SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend workshop “Picture Your Prosperity: Smart Money Moves to Turn Your Vision into Reality” in Ballroom D.
12:30 pm – 1 pm: Return to BigAustin’s booth if you need to; otherwise check out the rest of the Exhibit Halls.
1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.
2:45 pm – 3 pm: Practice your pitch for Tory or relax while listening to the live local music on the Austin Music Stage.
3 pm – 5 pm: Join the Small Business & Social Media Roundtables (located in Halls 1&2) and pitch your product to Tory at your appointed time.
