Capella Tucker

Capella Tucker joined KUHF in the spring of 1994 as a part-time reporter. She quickly gained a full-time position when she took over production duties for “Engines of Our Ingenuity” while still reporting for the news room. For ten years starting in 1997, Tucker was the local news host for Saturday “Weekend Edition” and “Car Talk.”  Today as director of programming for KUHF News, Tucker oversees an award-winning news team of seven talented reporters and anchors. Tucker’s work as a reporter has been recognized by peers across the region. She received an Edward R. Murrow award from the Radio Television News Directors Association for her coverage of Houston’s response to Katrina evacuees at the Astrodome. She’s also been recognized by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters over the years with the most recent being a first place award for her medical reporting. Tucker’s other activities include being a member of the Houston Press Club. She also spent several years teaching broadcast writing at Alvin Community College. Tucker graduated from the University of Maine in 1992.
