CARA NICHOLS is director of community affairs for Rackspace. In this role, she has the unique opportunity to give back to the communities where the company works. Under her leadership, Rackspace extends its fanatical experience mission to the community through corporate giving, volunteerism and the Rackspace Foundation. She has developed Rackspace’s global signature events supporting the community, including the annual Week of Volunteering, Back to School Fair and the Holiday Hunger Awareness campaign, and manages the corporate brand as it relates to the various nonprofit organizations supported by Rackspace. Nichols also serves as president of the Rackspace Foundation, an employee-funded nonprofit that supports out-of-school programs in the seven adopted schools around Rackspace’s corporate headquarters in San Antonio, TX. Under her direction Rackspace, along with its employees and associates, has invested more than $7.5M and over 80,000 volunteer hours in the communities in which the company operates. Before coming to Rackspace, Nichols was the editor of a high-end lifestyle magazine, and prior to that she was an elementary teacher. She earned a BS from The University of Texas at Austin. @rackspace
