Glenda Hatchett

She served in dual roles as a senior attorney for Delta, litigating cases in federal courts throughout the country, and as manager of public relations, supervising global crisis management and media relations for all of Europe, Asia and the United States. Jennifer Arnold, MD, MSc

speakers_jenniferarnoldJennifer Arnold, MD, MSc is the medical director of Texas Children's Hospital's new, state-of-the-art Pediatric Simulation Center and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, division of neonatology. Dr. Arnold has been involved in simulation education for the last five years. She was a NIH postdoctoral scholar at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Safar Center for Resuscitative Medicine in 2006 and 2007. She has been funded for her simulation educational research through the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine. Prior to coming to Texas Children's Hospital, Dr. Arnold completed a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of a simulation-based training program on pediatric resident neonatal intubation success and competency. Among her achievements she has received the Ray E. Helfer Award for innovation in medical education from Academic Pediatric Association for her study, a prospective randomized controlled trial of the effect of a high fidelity simulation curriculum on pediatric resident competency in clinical management of the neonatal airway. In addition to her work in the medical field, Dr. Arnold and her husband, Bill Klein, are the stars in TLC's reality show, "The Little Couple."


Tory Johnson

Tory-Johnson2Tory Johnson is all about spark and hustle at work, dating back to high school in Miami Beach where she joined her all-male debate team-and became the first girl (with her partner) to win a state championship. She dropped out of Emerson College to work at ABC News and then jumped to NBC News, only to be fired unexpectedly a couple of years later. The permanent scar from that experience inspired her to shift from employee to entrepreneur, and in 1999 she founded Women For Hire. Alice Bisno

Scott Burns

scott_burnsScott Burns has covered the changing world of personal finance and investments for nearly 40 years. Today, he ranks as one of the five most widely read personal finance writers in the country. Burns began his career as a newspaper columnist at the Boston Herald in 1977, where he was also the financial editor. Nationally syndicated in 1981 and now distributed by Universal Press, the column appears in newspapers from Boston to Seattle. In 1985 he joined the staff of the Dallas Morning News, where his column quickly became one of the most widely read features in the paper. He left the Dallas Morning News in 2006 to become one of the founders of AssetBuilder and its chief investment strategist. Burns has written four books, the most recent of which are "The Coming Generational Storm" and "Spend 'til the End," co-authored with Boston University economist Laurence J. Kotlikoff. Burns' business experience includes working as a staffer for a major consulting company and as a director and audit chairman of a NASDAQ listed manufacturing company. Burns is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Lauren Bush

In 2004, Bush became an Honorary Spokesperson for the UN World Food Program (WFP). As Honorary Spokesperson, she has traveled to eight countries around the world visiting WFP operations, and helped start the Universities Fighting Hunger Campaign in the US. For many years Bush was a fashion model, appearing on the cover of such publications as W, Australian Vogue, Glamour, Town and Country, and Tatler. Gracie Cavnar

Irma Diaz-Gonzalez

Diaz-Gonzalez is a walking resource of knowledge, having amassed an impressive 25 years' experience in the field of workforce development. She can boast of a multitude of accomplishments, not the least of which is being selected as chairman of the board of Houston's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, one of the largest Hispanic chambers in the country. The acutely astute human resource specialist extends her talents beyond the work world. She was instrumental in establishing a project to help legal residents become U.S. citizens and increase voter participation in the Latino community. She is also passionate about parental involvement in public schools and raising funds to award scholarships to low-income Latinas. Lisa Dollinger

Susan Getgood

Christine Hassler

Ginger Howard

speakers_howardGinger Howard is the owner of Ginger Howard Selections, a boutique specializing in unique women's apparel and accessories located on Peachtree Road in Buckhead, Atlanta. In the nine years since Ginger Howard Selections opened its doors, Howard has combined her love of fashion and politics by doing wardrobe consulting for politicians' wives, numerous fashion shows, public speaking engagements and trunk shows. She graduated from the University of Georgia and began her career in retail, working for JJ's in Athens and later at Shaw's as a buyer throughout the southeast. In March 1993, she ventured out on her own and started Ginger Howard Company, a Southern buying office that represented 25 stores. She traveled to New York often and spent much of her time visiting the stores. Howard moved to Atlanta in 1996 and began a trunk show business. Dr. Mae C. Jemison

mae_jemison Dr. Mae C. Jemison is founder of the technology consulting firm, The Jemison Group, Inc. that integrates the critical impact of socio-cultural issues when designing and implementing technologies.  Dr. Jemison, the first woman of color in the world to go into space, served six years as a NASA astronaut. Prior to joining NASA, Jemison was the Area Peace Corps Medical Officer for Sierra Leone and Liberia in West Africa. Throughout Jemison's career, she has worked internationally including in a Cambodian refugee camp with the Flying Doctors of East Africa. Jemison is a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine; an inductee of National Women's Hall of Fame, National Medical Association Hall of Fame and Texas Science Hall of Fame. Dr. Marjorie R. Jenkins

Emmy-winning TV broadcaster Cindy Morrison successfully reinvented herself after the economy led to corporate downsizing and left her unemployed. Leaving her 20-year career behind, Morrison wrote "Girlfriends 2.0" to empower women to upgrade their "Girlfriend Network." She has since been speaking on the topic and has launched a successful consulting business, Reinvention 2.0, a business-focused approach to her Girlfriends 2.0 concept.  Morrison's witty and approachable speaking style was honed during her many years as a television news anchor and investigative reporter in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. She has won an Emmy, a Peabody and a Gracie Allen Award for her groundbreaking investigations over the years. Morrison also hosts national shows for the Woman's Information Network and the Diva Toolbox. In 2010, Morrison was chosen as one of the 25 Most Amazing Women of the Year by Stiletto Women magazine.  She is also a member of the National Speaker's Association and continues her loyal membership with numerous other national news organizations.


Alicia Rockmore

alicia_rockmoreAlicia Rockmore is a self-proclaimed organizational maniac who seamlessly juggles a fast-paced career and full home life. She is detail-oriented and list-driven and never misses a thing. Prior to co-founding Buttoned Up, Inc, Rockmore was a marketing whiz working for well-known brands like Wish-Bone Salad Dressing, Ragu Pasta Sauces, Total Cereals and Wheaties. Prior to her marketing career, Rockmore was a CPA with Ernst & Young.  Rockmore received her M.B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1992 and her B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in economics in 1987.


Wendy Sachs

wendy_sachsWendy Sachs has more than 15 years of experience in media, politics, public relations and women's issues. She is an Emmy award-winning television producer and the author of the critically acclaimed book on balancing career and family, "How She Really Does It: Secrets of Successful Stay-at-Work Moms." Currently, Sachs is the editor-in-chief of Care.com, the fastest growing online site for childcare, senior care, special needs and pet sitters. Sachs has been featured on NBC's "Today," ABC's "Good Morning America," CBS's "Up to the Minute," and FOX's "Good Day New York" among others. She has also been interviewed by Forbes, USA Today, Parade, the Chicago Tribune, the Miami Herald, WNYC's Brian Lehrer, Oprah Sirius radio's financial expert Jean Chatzky, syndicated talk show host Michael Medved, WOR news radio's Joan Hamburg and many others. Her work has appeared on The New York Times' web site and she is a freelance contributor to several magazines including USA Weekend. Sachs attended Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.


Bonnie St. John

bonnie_stjohn_picBonnie St. John has over 15 years experience training business leaders, politicians, and educators on leadership. She's a world-renowned keynote speaker, the author of five books, a Rhodes Scholar, and a former White House official. Despite having her right leg amputated at age five; Bonnie became the first African-American to win Olympic medals in ski racing at the 1984 Paralympics. She has been honored for this achievement at Nike Headquarters, at the Essence Awards, at the White House Black History Month celebration, and with a featured quote on millions of Starbucks Cups. Bonnie has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America, People, Essence, Ebony, The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, and many other national media outlets.


Stephanee Talley

Stephanee Talley, SPHR is the human resources manager with AAA Texas, where she has been employed for the past seven years. Talley has over 14 years of experience in human resources with an emphasis on recruitment and employee relations. Talley initially worked in the executive search industry and later became involved in recruiting for corporate America. She maintains a Senior Professional of Human Resources certification and volunteers with the Salvation Army, Chi Omega sorority and her local church. She graduated from the University of North Texas.


Telisa Toliver

telisa_toliver Telisa Toliver serves as vice president of commercial development for Chevron Global Power Company, which manages Chevron's existing global portfolio of commercial power plants and identifies new growth opportunities for power generation worldwide. Toliver was named to her current position in 2006, where she is responsible for the development of gas-fired and renewable power generation projects to support Chevron asset growth goals in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The Commercial Development group provides optimal commercial power solutions for existing Chevron operations. Toliver began her career in the energy industry with Texaco and has held various positions of increasing responsibilities in natural gas sales, fuels management, strategic planning and commercial development.


Elaine Turner

elaine_turnerElaine Turner founded her business in 2000 with husband, Jim, after working in private label design in New York. Turner quickly made a name for herself with a fun, glamorous style that appeals to women of all ages. "My goal has always been to create a lifestyle brand that focused primarily on accessories and reflected my spirit. I design accessories that I would want to own and wear. I want my customers to walk away feeling good about themselves with a huge smile on their face. It's really that simple." Within a few years, Turner's handbags were stocking the shelves of Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus. Turner also found her designs featured in Oprah Magazine, REAL SIMPLE, InStyle, and People StyleWatch. In 2008, Turner expanded her brand to include a shoe collection and continues to open namesake stores across Texas. This fall, Elaine Turner is celebrating 10 years in business by bringing back two handbags that put her brand on the map, dubbed the "Vintage" collection.www.elaineturner.com


Kristin van Ogtrop

kristin_van_ogtropKristin van Ogtrop was named Managing Editor of Real Simple in March 2003. In addition to leading the magazine to print success, she has grown the Real Simple brand to include a robust website, including Adventures in Chaos, her personal blog. Under van Ogtrop, Real Simple magazine has received numerous editorial accolades, including four National Magazine Award nominations, a 2004 National Magazine Award nomination, multiple awards from the Society of Publication Designers, as well as the prestigious Henry R. Luce Award for magazine of the year in 2005. Realsimple.com also won Best Redesign from Media Industry Newsletter's (MIN) Best of the Web Awards in 2010. Van Ogtrop makes regular TV appearances on various shows including: NBC's Today, ABC's Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, and CNN. Before joining Real Simple, van Ogtrop was Executive Editor of Glamour,  and also held positions at Vogue, Travel & Leisure and Premiere. She has served as an instructor at Columbia University's Publishing Course. In April 2010, Little, Brown published van Ogtrop's book "Just Let Me Lie Down: Necessary Terms for the Half-Insane Working Mom." Van Ogtrop received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in English from Columbia University.


 

Linda Von Quintus

Linda von Quintus has over 27 years of management, government, public relations and insurance experience.   She joined AAA Texas in 2000 as their regulatory counsel and was promoted in 2007 to Group Manager for Public and Government Affairs for AAA Texas and AAA New Mexico.  She joined AAA Texas after more than a decade with the Texas Department of Insurance.   She is a Leadership Texas and Leadership America alumnus. Von Quintus is a licensed attorney graduating from Thurgood Marshal Law School "cum laude" in May 1986. Prior to law school, she received her Bachelor of Administration from University of Houston.
