Carol Allred serves as president of the board of directors of WomenHeart, The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. WomenHeart is the only national organization promoting women's heart health through advocacy, community education and patient support. After suffering a major heart attack with substantial damage, heart failure and angina, Ms. Allred needed information on how to live with heart disease, which included adjusting to medicines, cardiac procedures and a defibrillator implant all within a few short months. WomenHeart helped educate her about the needs of all women and she shares the information through her talk, "Straight from the Heart, a survivor's story." She serves on the National Federation of Republican Women Committee on Women's Health Issues, the Executive Advisory Board of the Scott and White Hospital Women's Cardiovascular Center and various church and community organizations. |

Crystal E. Ashby is the vice president of government and public affairs, refining & marketing for BP America Inc. Until very recently, she was the head of change management for BP Legal. Prior to that she was the managing attorney for US Retail Operations for BP America Inc., based in Warrenville, IL, a position she held for two years. During 2004 and 2005, Ms. Ashby was based in London. During that time, she filled several roles for the company including: senior advisor reporting to group vice president and president, BP America Inc. and group managing director and group chief of staff, as well as senior advisor reporting to the group compliance & ethics officer for BP plc. Ms. Ashby obtained her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and her B.A. in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan. |

Betsy Bagley is the director of business development for the Texas Region for YourOnRamp.com, an organization working to make a significant difference in the quality, variety and number of flexible career options for women. The majority of her career has been in the field of marketing research. She started her career with Colgate-Palmolive in New York, followed by positions in beverage consulting and healthcare marketing in New Orleans. She became interested in work/life balance when it came time to evaluate options after the birth of her first child. The next 13 years brought three more children and moves to Houston, London and Dallas. She was an adjunct instructor in marketing research, an independent marketing research consultant and employed part-time in educational marketing. She received her Master of Marketing Research degree, the first graduate program of its kind, at the University of Georgia. This past fall she attended the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth for the Back in Business course, a program in its second year. |

Rachael Baker is the event coordinator at the National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation. In this role, she works to understand and recognize her health care choices while empowering other women and their families to do the same. Prior to Speaking of Women’s Health, Ms. Baker was a volunteer coordinator at the Marvin Lewis Community Fund. A native of Dallas, Ms. Baker moved to Cincinnati to attend the University of Cincinnati on a 4-year soccer scholarship and to obtain a B.S. in Communication. While at UC, she was captain of the soccer team and vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Council. She also received a leadership award on behalf of the entire athletic department. |

Her latest book, How Perfect Is That, a comic novel set in high and low Austin society, has won an Elle Magazine Reader’s Prize and is a Good Housekeeping Recommended Read. On the Austin best-seller list continuously since its early summer release, How Perfect Is That is already being reprinted for the third time. Among the awards Ms. Bird has received for her other novels are the American Library Association’s Booklist Editors Best Book of the Year list; SW Critics Best Novel of the Year; Texas Institute of Letter’s Award for Best Work of Fiction, (twice); and Writer’s League of Texas Award of Literary Merit. Jill Conner Browne is a multiple New York Times best selling author. John Byrd is strategic business manager within the Americas Environmental Group, and his been with Hewlett-Packard for 13 years. In this position he works to ensure legislative compliance, manage industry leading recycling programs and provide sales support. Previously, he held a myriad of positions within HP’s consumer Personal Systems Group (PSG). He managed a team responsible for returns and refurbishment activities of personal computing products. In separate roles he was responsible for demand generation programs, developing financial models and pricing products for the U.S. market. He also completed his MBA during this period, at Santa Clara University. Prior to PSG he worked in HP’s indirect sales organization in a world-wide planning and reporting role. Prior to HP, he worked for Target Stores managing merchandising and operations at the store level. After college and prior to Target, he spent seven years as a Marine Corps Officer. |

Katherine Pannill Center is the author of The Bright Side of Disaster. She graduated from Vassar College and was awarded the Vassar College Fiction Prize. Ms. Center received an M.A. in fiction from the University of Houston. She served as fiction co-editor for the literary magazine Gulf Coast, and her graduate thesis, Peepshow, a collection of stories, was a finalist for the Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction. A former freelancer and teacher, she lives in Houston with her husband and two young children. Her next book, Everyone is Beautiful, will be published in February of 2009. |

Massimo Cristofanilli, M.D. is associate professor, Breast Medical Oncology, and co-director of the Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Program and Clinic at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is a world-renowned specialist in inflammatory breast cancer. His research efforts to this field started in 1999, culminating with the publication of the pivotal study demonstrating the prognostic value of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) (New England Journal of Medicine, 2004). Dr. Cristofanilli has published several articles, abstracts and book chapters on the diagnosis, biology and management of locally advanced (particularly inflammatory disease) and metastatic breast cancer. Dr. Cristofanilli serves on many committees, including the Institutional Research Grant Review Panel and the Breast Cancer Tissue Bank Committee for the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. He attended medical school at the University of Rome and completed his internship and residency at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City and fellowships at M. D. Anderson and the University La Sapienza in Rome, Italy.

Iris Cross currently serves as manager, external affairs, BP America. In this position, she is responsible for shaping and implementing BP’s community relations strategy and managing external affairs for BP in the Houston area. Ms. Cross has 25 years experience in government and public affairs, with extensive knowledge in philanthropy and community relations. Her tenure with BP included director, community relations, BP Texas City, where she managed and delivered a successful community investment and volunteerism program for Texas City and Galveston County, and several other positions. She has been recognized both internally and externally for her community relations efforts and support of employee volunteerism programs. She has served on numerous community and civic boards in Chicago and Houston. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for The Ensemble Theatre and a member of the Missouri Chapter LINKS. Ariane de Bonvoisin is the CEO and founder of First30Days, a New York City-based media company focused on guiding people through all types of changes, personal, professional, social and global. The company launched its beta web site, first30days.com, in February 2008 and currently features nearly 60 life change subjects. With a degree in economics and international relations from the London School of Economics, Ms. de Bonvoisin began her professional career at the Boston Consulting Group and worked in more than a dozen countries during her tenure. After receiving an MBA from Stanford University, she moved to New York to work with media companies BMG and Sony Music. In 2000, she joined Time Warner as the managing director of a new digital media venture fund. It was during this time the concept of First30Days was born. Suzan Deison is the founder and president of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. After spending four years as president of the North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, 1998 to 2002, and later as president of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce, 2002 to 2005, Ms. Deison could see the vast accomplishments that women working together could achieve so she led the effort in forming The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Debra Fraser is the station manager at KUHF, overseeing the combined cultural programming and news departments, as well as the station's public information and online initiatives. | Marian Harper, vice president of foundation development, is in her 17th season with the Houston Astros. She was named vice president of community development in July 1999, after serving as the director of that department since November 1997. Under her guidance, the department assists thousands of organizations annually through memorabilia and monetary donations, appearances, community awareness programs, player involvement and the Astros mascot program. Ms. Harper also oversees the day-to-day operations of the Astros in Action Foundation. She joined the Astros in 1992 as promotions coordinator, overseeing purchasing, distribution and account services for in-game activities. She is a native of Pittsburg, Texas. She currently serves on the board of the Northeast YMCA where she was named 2002 Volunteer of the Year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, and The Ensemble Theatre. Mae C. Jemison, M.D., blasted into orbit aboard the space shuttle Endeavour in 1992, as the world's first woman of color to go into space. The founder and president of two technology companies, she also founded and chairs The Dorothy Jemison Foundation for Excellence which hosts an annual international science camp. Prior to joining NASA in 1987, Dr. Jemison worked in the fields of engineering and medicine. She was a general practitioner in Los Angeles with the INA/Ross Loos Medical Group. She then spent two and a half years (1983-1985) as Area Peace Corps medical officer for Sierra Leone and Liberia in West Africa. Dr. Jemison entered Stanford University at the age of sixteen on a scholarship, graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and fulfilled the requirements for an A.B. in African and Afro-American studies. She earned her doctorate in medicine at Cornell University Medical College.

| Renu Khator, Ph.D., is president of the University of Houston and chancellor of the UH System, which includes KUHT, the nation's first educational television station, and KUHF, Houston's National Public Radio station. In her capacity as chancellor, Dr. Khator oversees a system with an annual operating budget that exceeds $1 billion, serves more than 57,000 students and has an overall economic impact of $3 billion on the Greater Houston area. Dr. Khator, born in Uttar Pradesh, India, is a noted scholar in the field of global environmental policy; she has published five books and several articles on various aspects of this subject. She received her master's degree and her Ph.D. in political science from Purdue University.

Kathleen Lucas is the vice president of Assurance for BP America located in Houston, Texas. BP is the nation’s largest producer of domestic oil and gas and one of the nation’s largest energy investors. Ms. Lucas has held a variety of technical, strategic and leadership roles at refineries in Texas City, Texas; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Perth, Western Australia. A native Texan, Ms. Lucas was born in Galveston and grew up in Texas City. She attended Texas A&M University and earned her B.S in Chemical Engineering with honors. Margaret Martin is owner and founder of the Martin Institute for Leadership and Cultural Connections a company that helps individuals eloquently navigate through

Beth Mooney is the founder and co-director of Learning to Lead. She became involved in leadership activities in high school and has since recognized the importance of developing these skills at a young age. Ms. Mooney graduated cum laude from Bucknell University where she held several campus leadership positions. She also served in various leadership roles while completing her graduate degree at Loyola College. Previously, Ms. Mooney served as the assistant director of leadership development and greek affairs at Villanova University.
